SINGAPORE MARCH 12th - 19th 2006

Wow!!  What a week that was in the wonderful city of Singapore!  A complete contrast from India or anywhere else for that matter, never have we seen such a beautifully clean and immaculate country, this has to be one of the most beautiful cities in the world.  We were there for 7 nights and stayed in 5 different hotels, one of which was just over the border into Malaysia in the city of Johor Bahru.  For the hotels, the highlight was staying just one night at the fabulous and famous Raffles Hotel which cost more to stay for the one night that the entire other 6 nights put together but it was well worth it as long as you don't think about it too much.  The city is a stunning mix of historic and modern architecture all seemingly blended in well together.  Singapore is either ridiculously expensive or ridiculously cheap so you can live either way there.  We went to some very posh restaurants to have gourmet food and went to street vendors for various fried and grilled snacks, both of which were equally enjoyable!  Weather was very hot the whole time so you have to spend your day nipping into shopping malls or taxis regularly to cool off with air conditioning.  The pictures tell the rest of the story and there are so many that I had to split them into 2 pages.  Just click the link below for the second lot!
